SYSGC - Apeal for Drummers and Bass players

Good afternoon everyone, as a result of an ever ageing membership we are desperately in need of members that can drum and or can play Bass. Our current Drummer Pete Bainbridge, is caring for his wife who is undergoing treatment for Cancer and will be unable to attend before January 2023 so our need is desperate. We have in the past had the services of Alan Jones, but it's a lot for just one player and therefore the more bass players we've got the better it will be for all concerned. Unlike Alan, not everyone will be able to play everything expected. So any help would be much appreciated. Please feel free to pass this request around or PM me if needed.
Regards
Mike Kilner

I wish you luck with that, Mike.

Good lead players can often get by on bass as a second instrument. Some shine at it: we have two at Warwick SGC who slot in particularly well. At SW(Exeter) one lead player has made the transition almost completely and thereby keeps the music live there.

Drums is not so easy because you need a kit and you really need to know the repertoire.

Meanwhile if more lead players would learn their chords (!) they’ve already got the rhythm instrument!

But age will pick us all off one by one …
