"New" info on Hank and Bruce's early career ??

Here is one for the Shadows historians.

The Tyne Tees local news tonight featured a guy, Tommy Sivell, who was celebrating his 104 birthday. During the piece it was reported that Hank and Bruce used to practice at his house back in the Fifties with his son's group. He even had a photograph on display of them with his son.

See the whole piece here:

I wonder if Bruce remembers?

Probably very interesting, but since it has an 'only in UK' built in viewing restriction I'll never know! ;)

Sorry Bill.
I have just spent several hours trying to find a way to record it but to no avail.
There is not much to it really. Just a short interview with a guy who was celebrating his 104th birthday and it happened to mention that his house was used as a rehearsal room for his son's group. Hank and Bruce were apparently members of the group at one time, which was illustrated by a photo on his wall.

Ironically Bill, the programme starts with a Singapore Airlines advert about visiting Australia!

I guess the overseas restriction is to do with the TV licence.

If you want to fast forward to the news item, it starts at 18:05 with the Hank/Bruce bit is at 19:38. In this section, you can see the photo, (which I don't think I've seen before) in even closer detail to the one Alan has posted.

Regards, Martin.

It shouldn't be. Tyne-Tees (or rather, what's left of it, which is just the regional news studio) is - or rather was - an ITV station, not funded by the BBC's licence fee.

I knew that most BBC iPlayer material isn't available online outside the UK, but can't see why ITV local news and feature material shouldn't be. ITV absolutely own the copyright, and the licence fee isn't an issue

Jim,

It possibly shouldn't be an issue, but it is. See the attached screenshot.

I wrote to ITV and had the following reply:

Hi Folks,

For those who need to access the clip - here is a URL to my wmv file.

I extracted the relevant bit from the news programme - but had to join video and audio together later - it is not quite synchronised correctly but does not detract as most of the clip is a voice over.
