No, but I've got one of those DeArmond pickups.
Any idea who makes the John Pearse strings?
And are they roundwound or flatwound?

Jim Nugent I am not certain of the type of windings used but believe they are probably roundwound on a round core and the type we are probably interested will likely be the pure nickel jazz variety. One noted endorsee is one
Tommy EmmanuelHere is their site
http://www.jpstrings.com/index.htmGuess I will try a set later and see what they sound like and longevity mightbe like. They are well priced against the other brands of nickel wounds out there !
Ecca thanks for the positive reply

Yes.
I have some on my Gitane that I use to play stuff like Benny's Toon.
I sent my Gitane to Ged Green (a Manchester Luthier) who is an expert in these gypsy type guitars to have a pickup fitted in the bridge. He set it up beautifully and he tells me that it s strung with Jim Pearse Nuage Guitar Strings, described as light Gypsy Jazz strings, silver plated copper core, silk wound, 10, 14, 22w, 28w, 36w, 45w. Made in USA
Suggested Retail Price: £14.95 Pounds Stg.
The guitar certainly sounds amazing, even the way I play it, and many people ask whether it is nylon strung, the sound is so distinctive. But as you can see, they are not cheap!

I ordered a trial set of theseJohn Parse strings (12-52, with a 24w third), and they arrived today from Holiday Music / Stringsdirect. Good price.
Oh... and they are roundwound.
I don't intend to use them on a Stratocaster. In due course, (not immediately), they will go onto my Gibson ES-175, replacing a D'Addario flatwound set installed about a year ago. I also ordered a set of "Roto Purples" which have the same gauge. They (the Rotos) might go onto a Strat...
I'll report back in the fullness of time.
