New Club In Congleton

Following Ken (telegraph road) Toft's decision to suspend, or possibly close, the Cheshire Guitar Club, I now feel sufficiently recovered from my recent little problem, to offer a new club to all the previous members, and anyone else who wishes to come along.
It will be held at MOSSLEY VILLAGE HALL, LEEK ROAD, CONGLETON, CW12 3HX and will be called
"THE CONGLETON GUITAR CLUB".
The first meeting will be held on July 17th, 2.00pm til 5.00pm.
Subsequent meetings will be: September 11th, October 30th, December 4th.
If all goes well there will be more meetings next year.
Admission will be £4.00 for players & £2.00 for non-players. This price will include light refreshments, ie. tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes.
It is my intention that the format will be as at Derby and North Notts. clubs, ie. 2 numbers per person with BTs, then 2 numbers per person with a "live band". (If time permits, this may be repeated) Players can either select their own band, or play with whoever I can find who knows the tunes they want to play. Obviously if huge numbers of people attend, I may have to limit the number of tunes played.
There will be a PA, Bass amp, and several lead amps available, so please don't bring an amp unless you have been asked to.
I am asking David Martin to set up a section for the new club in the Club Forum.
I hope to see lots of familiar faces there, and perhaps some not so familiar ones as well.
Any questions, send me a PM, or post it here.

Great news Paul. Pleased you are feeling well enough to organise this.

Good luck,

Hi Paul
I am certainly on for July 17th !!
September meet falls on our holiday so won't be there.
Should be there in October (before the shorter days precludes my night driving of any distance).
Would make sense for me to tote my Vox VT60 and Zoom as I used to at Smallwood - but that is YOUR call - please advise.
cheers
ian

Hello Paul,
Best of good fortune with the new club. Sorry - won't be able to be there, but perhaps we'll see you at our Middlewich charity gig in August.
Regards
Paul

A big THANK YOU to those who came to the inaugural meeting yesterday, and also to those who couldn't make it, but sent their best wishes.
Despite a few gremlins, the afternoon went (I think) quite well, and it was good to meet up again with a few of the Cheshire Club regulars.
Special mentions for Tony, Paul, Nigel, John and Ian who all had fairly long journeys, and Jack North, a very welcome stranger.
I am not going to give a blow by blow account of who played what, but the standard of play was excellent throughout.
I am now recovering from my exertions, and trying to get myself fit for the next meeting, September 11th. I hope to see a few more people there, so please try to join us.

Cracking lttle venue - just the job!
Mixture of BTs sets and LIVE playing.
Thoroughly enjoyed the day - a varied list of players and styles. Shock,Horror -we even had someone playiong a Les Paul!! :o :o :o
My thanks to Paul who has set this Club up from the ashes of the Cheshire Guitar Club and to June for continuous ministrations to our demands for cups of tea and coffee and the endless supply of CAKES! (Did some one mention 'cakes'?! I surely did! Yummy in my tummy!! )
Next Gig, I believe is Sept 11th - count me in!
cheers
