I've posted this on the club section also. I'll give it a while so folks know it's there.

That's exacly how it should be Alan, I used to visit a club where a couple of clowns insisted on doing a summer season every week - they emptied the place and the club eventually demised. No names, but you know who you are, just very selfish people and boring to watch.

Someone always tries to buck the system.
Two of the problems we had at Vintage Sixties Live were 27 song "medleys", and "all day" blues songs with the same verse repeated 19 times interspersed by 15 minute solos.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ !!

:D :D :D

I thought the Hankies system was - play a tune - have a cheese bap - play another tune - have another cheese bap - and so on ! ;)

There appears to be a need to define playing time.

Playing time is the time you spend with a guitar in your hands playing a tune.
Playing to a backing track this is very straightforward. Three tracks, three tunes
hand over to the next player.
Some confusion appears to arise when two or three people wish to play
together not using a backing track. I.E. one plays lead, one plays rhythm, one plays bass.
Let me clarify this. whether one plays lead, rhythm, bass or vuvuzela, one
is using a turn playing. So, if Billy-Jo plays lead with Bo-Luke on rhythm and
Jimmy-Jingle on bass for three tunes, those three people have used their playing time. They do
not swap over and play another set whilst the rest sit like lemons watching and waiting to play.
Cheers, Alan.

You have very good point here Alan, the times I have been at a club and watch players going from playing rhythm for a mate then having another go later on playing lead, I've allways thought "that person has had his go allready "..............Maybe this posting will be read by all and things will change, or I may have to borrow Ecca's Gallows :D
