The Madeleine Cookike Company

Dear all,

We (the Madeleine Cookie Company) play again this October 6! We'll open with our usual 7 Shadows pieces, but this time plan to insert in the middle of the Shadows repertoire a new song (for us) - "The Young Ones." We have a new singer, a young man all of 20 years old, who sings beautifully. We've heard "The Young Ones" sung by so many older guys through the years - the singers just got older - so we're excited to hear it sung by someone as old as Cliff when he first recorded the song.

We'll switch to the Ventures (and to Jazzmasters and Fender Reverbs) in the middle part of trhe show.

Our October poster! Tell us to break a leg.

Andres,
Good luck with the next gig.
Any chance of an audio file of the performance - or at least part of it?
Cheers,
JB

John, thank you. We'll try to get a video recording for this last show and I will put that on YouTube.

I hope all goes well with the show. I'm not a musician nor a producer, so the regular shows can be hard on the nerves and schedules sometimes. We were quite surprised by the response though and have had a great deal of fun.

I wanted to get to the stage where we can play the Shadows pieces not in the top five list. I'm thinking Nivram and perhaps a highly staged Man of Mystery or Frightened City (with bobby's whistle, smoke machines, and so forth).

Thank you, Paul. I passed on your comment to our keyboardist, who said that was hilarious.

I must put in a note on how amazed I am with our chorus and keyboardist, all of whom didn't know the Shadows. The Shadows were popular here for such a brief period, that it is easy for younger people to have missed them completely. Yet they did I think such a fine job supporting us.

They are so talented and blend so well (they sing the Lennon Sisters' version of "Mr. Sandman" in the show, and that always floors the audience, brings tears to the eyes of some). The keyboardist reads notes (conservatory of music) and has a wonderful ear. I feel incometent in comparison! When I play lead on Atlantis, and hear the keyboard mimic the orchestra and then hear the singers come in with the chorus, it is really a magical moment for me. What a treat.

Our last act this October, and we are thinking of cancelling it in commiseration with the thousands whose homes were submerged during the massive flooding during Saturday's one-in-100-years storm.

Dear friends,

We regret to announce that our show scheduled for the coming Tuesday, October 6, is CANCELLED. It is difficult to cancel a sold-out, fully-sponsored show, but we know that this is the right thing to do in the circumstances.

In the midst of so much loss, suffering, and uncertainty, we feel it is not the right time to hold such a joyous, fun-filled act as “The Madeleine Cookie Company Performs.” We know that you, including the many who took the trouble to reserve or pick up tickets, and our sponsors will concur in this.

We remain excited about the act and will continue to make it better for you. The Madeleine Cookie Company will perform again! Yet again! And again! And again!
