Ah, nostalgia ain't what it used to be.
What a fascinating article Jim. It brought back memories of when I was a nipper in Bournemouth in the 50s when my parents regularly took me to see variety shows at either the New Royal theatre or the Boscombe Hippodrome. I had uncles who worked backstage at each of them so I got to meet a few of the stars of those days like Harry Secombe (plain "Mr" back then), Ray Ellington, Peter Butterworth and Lita Rosa (there were others but I can'r remember). I have seen most of the artists mentioned in that article including the great Max Miller but I was only about 8 or 9. The audience were in fits and I kept asking my Dad what Max was saying but he just said, "I'll tell you afterwards". He never did!
Then we got a telly and life changed forever.

One of our regulars at Vintage Sixties Live worked as a "runner/ errand boy to the stars" at the Globe, Stockton during the early Sixties.
He has many tales to tell.
