Just to add a thought here.......We keep hearing about it all being in the fingers, and this is not to have a go at anyone but, the original thread was started by Phill Kelly , then we heard that Robbo got a set and I think also Mark Burton got a set and they all swear by them........But to be fair they are all top of the line players earning a living from playing the guitar at a very high standard........Would the normal bedroom player notice the difference I ask?........Just my thoughts prior to a purchase :D :D

wow - hang on a minute Derek.......

I've been called many things before but never a top line player

you are welcome to try them out any time ..... as my view is yes - provided you know what you're listening for AND you can play to a reasonable standard the tone is there. Put it this way - I've had these for about 2 months now and they still put a smile on my face everytime I plug the guitar in :)

Hi Derek,
I think the reason us bedroom players keep searching for the Holy Grail sound, The Shadows early recorded sound, is because we can hear the difference.
I agree that pro musicians like Phil and Dave have got the extra magic in the fingers. I for one am greatfull that Phil and Dave did the demo's to let us hear the difference. I went to a local gig and heard Daves live sound. I could hear the difference. It was bang on the early Shadows recorded sound.
I now have a left handed set of the Sliders classic 59 pickups even though they are not in a guitar yet. Lets hope I can still hear the difference once fitted.
Best regards Geoff.
PS; Dont forget Phil and Dave use two other bits of gear, the AC30 and the valve tape echo.

I would not alter the hand wound Abigail Ybarra pick ups on my custom shop strat, which I collected when i visited the custom shop and met Tod Krause the guy who made my guitar. I was thinking of upgrading my other strat that at the moment has Kinmans fitted which would give me another tone
when I am playing to live audiences.
Would the sliders replicate the 60s sound better than the kinmans ? backing up the vocalist ? it would be back to the custom shop Strat for the instrumentals

Thanks Phil I am surmising your 100% answer was to my last post ?
I am looking for a raw 60s sound as I am already satisfied with my sound for instrumentals. Your You Tube clip was excellent but you can not get a very good
tonal quality via the PC (when you are listening through very small speakers)
But if your answer was for me then I thank you and I will give them a try.

Hi Guys

I played semi pro for 6 years +,and I consider myself reasonably competent where guitars are concerned.

I to watched Phils demo on youtube, and listened to Robbo's demos, and after a brief chat
with Dave,I have ordered a set of Sliders, hopefully they will be here this week.

I only play in the bedroom now, mostly doing DI recording, but it gives me pleasure
and I would find it difficult to stop now after 50 years.

I'll come back when I have fitted the Sliders, you never know I may just do a recording.
