You just HAVE to hear this "Shadows" album...

Spotify:

Better link (you have to have a Spotify account):

http://open.spotify.com/user/jimbon/pla ... cbUtorL0SS

You have to cut'n'paste that into a browser, and the PC will do the rest.

One or two of the tracks have their titles mixed up, but whoever it is playing on the album, it's a breath of fresh air.

Shindig is particularly engaging, sounding as though it's played by a gaggle of seasoned Nashville session-men.

Try it!

Hi Jim
clearly NOT "Our" Shadows even though the album cover might lead us to think it is.
A good collection of alternative arrangements and some superb playing.
I'm particularly taken with the 'Shreddies' version of F.B.I, the utterly laid back overdriven BSBSBM, the fingerpickin' Shindig, and the flamenco Spanish guitar Foottapper -"Jose"?- Brilliant!!
What a find!
Anone got any more info!!
Thanks Jim!!
cheers

Goodness - this sounds like it could be something very special. I have only listened to Atlantis/Wonderful Land (as the player is dicing with my fav tracks of all time here) but it is a very brave and original take on these special and unmoveable arrangements. The sounds are very interesting and nothing like 'lift' music. Well done I say. Foottapper is on and its great - in a minor key - outstanding. I hope everyone at leasts applauds these efforts and doesnt dismiss them. I love it.

Best wishes to all

I have only now stopped crying after hearing that dreadful version of Atlantis/Wonderful Land. That awful synthesized pseudo sitar was just the pits.

Dance On was clearly impossible to dance to and FBI was just bloody awful.

As for the line-dancing versions of Shindig and Round And Round.... words fail me. BSBSBM was the only track that I remotely enjoyed.

I'm sorry, but I thought that it was utterly crap and hope that I am not the only person to think so.

I hope that all due royalties are going to the real authors otherwise you will be aiding and abetting these people with every play.

I don't really care who the musicians were, whether any of us know them or not, all I know is that The Twang! album is 10 times better than this and at least they're honest enough to go by their real names.

Well, so far, the scores on the doors appear to be:

FOR: 5
AGAINST: 1

Whilst I'm not enthralled by every track (I never like slow ballad arrangements awash with synth "pads", even - perhaps especially - when The Shadows do them) I think the country version of Shindig is great, and the similar treatment of Round And Round almost as good.
