I still remember that The Yellow Rose Of Texas (1955) was my very first favourite record, enough to have me glued to the radiogram's speaker whenever it was played on-air by the BBC.

Mitch was great musician and a first class conductor / arranger. Like Jim - I used to love "The Yellow Rose Of Texas". Mind you - Miller couldn't abide Rock' n' Roll. Because of this he turned down the opportunity to sign both Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly for Columbia (USA). Mind you, the former decision was based purely on money. RCA paid what Sam Philips wanted. Probably (insofar as the music industry's concerned) the best $35,000 ever spent.
