What a great lost recording!
(Until now obviously!)

Another great Crickets song written by Sonny Curtis, in a similar beat ballad style to Sonny's 'Baby My Heart' on the first LP.

Thanks for that!

Very Interesting. I can't quite identify the voice doing the introduction, is it Jet ?.

Yes, I'm sure that is Jet doing the link to Midnight.

Incidentally, I don't think I've ever heard a live recording of Midnight before - - certainly not by the original line-up, anyway.

Jerry Allison also had a hand in composing the song.
Two excellent covers were also done by Leo Sayer and in my opinion the best version Bobby Vee.
The Shadows also did an instrumental of the same song in 1981 on their "Hits Right Up Your Street" album.

I was in Radio Mercur Theater in august 1961 - 15 years old and completely stunned over the sound/show.
I was later so lucky to meet one of the technicians from the radio - he told me that they had the entire concert and the rehearsals on tape. I got a copy of the show and 2-3 hours from the rehearsels - but unfortunately I lost the tapes - they were stolen in the late 70'es. But I remember The Shads rehearsing Kontiki and Cliff singing "You don't know".
I have later got a CD with the concert - so apparently others have copies of the tapes.
A local group - The Cliffters - was so inspired after the show, that they tried to copy the opening number Shazam - a number that was not known in Denmark at the time. So they created/wrote a "new" number - titled Django that became a hit in Denmark. If you listen to it, it's quite easy to recognise the Shazam intro.

As the Kingston live CD showed, they often included other different material in their live shows on radio, TV and stage that were never on records...
