A very sad day.................His family said he died "peacefully" at the Abbotswood Nursing Home on the Isle of Man.
He had suffered a series of strokes over the past six months.
In a statement, the family said: "Sir Norman Wisdom has passed away at Abbotswood Nursing Home on the Isle of Man. Over the last six months Norman has sustained a series of strokes causing a general decline in both his physical and mental health.
"He had maintained a degree of independence until a few days ago. However, over the last few days his condition rapidly declined. He was in no pain or distress and peacefully passed over at 18.46 on October 4."
The family asked for time to grieve a "much loved father and grandfather".

One of the few people who could make you smile without saying a word, just like the late Tommy Cooper. Thanks Norman.

To get an idea of this great entertainer's versatility, check out this Youtube clip. Other than possibly Bruce F himself, I can't think of another living British entertainer with a vast array of talent in so many different fields. A great man, sadly missed. Check out his autobography as well. Great reading.
Love to all,
Mart.

I can just imagine him swaggering up to the Pearly Gates in his too-small suit with cloth cap askew and shouting, "Mr Grimsdale, Mr Grimsdale, it's me, Norman"!
R.I.P.

I was lucky enough to have been taken by my parents when I was about eight years old to see Norman Wisdom at the Palace Theatre Plymouth in his one man show.
It was just marvellous - he had the audience in the 'palm of his hand' and had them laughing one minute and then crying the next.
It's very difficult to imagine such talent being seen again - he will indeed be sadly missed.
