Spring Is Nearly Here... alternative Japanese version?

I'd never heard this before. From 1967... The Shadows playing Spring Is Nearly Here (There are clear differences in performance between the more familiar Out Of The Shadows version and this rendition. So obviously it is a re-recording. Perhaps somebody can enlighten me as to where this recording came from... Japanese radio? TV?)

Hi Steve,

This version of "Spring Is Nearly Here" was recorded at TV Tokyo studio in June, 1967 when The Shadows appeared on
our TV programme.
Unfortunately, there was no film of this TV show left although we have looked for the film at TV Tokyo storeroom.
We also lost the film of Cliff's first concert in Tokyo on 18 Oct. 1967 which was also shown on our TV.
I hope it helps you.

Regards,
Yaeko from Tokyo

Fantastic. Great use of the De Armond pedal by Hank. For me that was the best period for the Shadows and the sound of the Burns is top class.

Many thanks Yaeko... :-)
Being one of those Shads fans who thinks he's heard anything and everything by the Shads, it's always nice to hear something like this.
Best regards,
Steve

I wonder if any other recordings survive from this show?

I have heard a total of four songs from that 1967 show. Can't remember what they all were offhand, and I'm not in a position to check my database, but one of them was Nivram.

I've just carried out some research on the net, and thanks to Malcolm Campbells' excellent and very informative website I've discovered this...
They played five numbers on the live Japanese TV broadcast, plus an interview with Bruce (apparently no actual footage from the show survives); they played...
Apache, Dance On, Nivram, Spring Is Nearly Here and Foot Tapper.
