Hello Shadsfriends! Can anyone tell the whole story about the tuningproblems The Shads had in 62/63 with the Stratocasters? Was it an "inhouse" case - or was it something lots of guitarist experienced?
Best regards

I think it was put down to a "faulty" batch, which the Shads just happened to receive. It was mainly Bruce who had the problems but this may have just been a bit of a "phobia" he had at the time - John Rostill seemed to tune the guitars ok. Then again this was pre digital tuners! This problem resulted in them approaching Jim Burns and the Marvin was born!

Digital Tuners???? I've always tuned the A string to Apache, and the rest by ear

Tuning by ear is fine but I always found it easier to use my fingers to turn the keys! :D
