In 1969 I was walking in Dartford, Unexpectedly I ran into the Vox factory.
I recently tried to locate where it was; could this be the building on Dartford Rd.?
I know the address is on no.119, but that looks like a petrol station to me (Google Earth).

According to 'The Vox Story' the former Vox (Jennings) building is now a petrol station, so I guess you are correct.

that about sums up the uk at this time. we used to build anything better than most . most factorys are now shops ect. were i live the brooklands estate which was vickers bac. building great aircraft going back to before the war. is now tesco argos ect selling goods from abroad. we were once a great country making goods of all sorts and selling them to the world. now vox is made in china. burns parts made from bits from all over the world except here, the list goes on. peter

Maybe someone from Dartford knows;
the original building might be still at the back of the petrol station
(not visible on the photo above) ?
But then, the building I saw in the sixties looked like the building on the photo.
I remember that the name Jennings was on the front, right where there is a different sign now.
Also, at the time It was a freestanding building; no other buildings near it, surrounded by open field (grass).
Amplified guitar sounds coming from some backyard shed...

The original buildings have been demolished, quite a few years ago.

There are pictures (can't recall exactly how many) in Jim Elyea's "Vox Amplifiers - the JMI years" book.

I don't want to be 'picky', but the building on the left is definitely the same as the one in the old photograph, as is the one to its right.

The windows are a dead give-away..........................So which building was demolished and when?
