Forget the general cringeworthiness - just admire those lovely Greenburst Marvins!

Cheers.

Always had a bit of a soft spot for "Finders Keepers" and it's a pity it doesn't get aired a bit more often these days - many thanks Cap'n for posting the clip of "My Way".
Hope we get a troupe of dancers like that at Beamish tonight (sorry - a bit of old mans wishful thinking there!) - might be way off beam here, but didn't Hank marry one of them (Carole)?
Regards
Paul

I didn't even know this track existed till i heard it one day on 'Sounds of the sixties'. It's a shame this wasn't a single as i felt it could have been a hit.

I love this song, its in our set list.
It just reiterates what superb singers they were and still are. The harmonies are amazing, so tight that its very difficult to pick out the actual melody line.

Another vote here for My Way - we in The Secrets included it in our last album (Secret Society), combining the vocal version and The Shadows' short instrumental version to make our own instrumental arrangement. In fact, I actually played it (to a backing track derived from the album track) in Bruce's presence when he visited the Surrey Shadows Club a couple of years ago! . . .(Thinks) I might well play it again this coming Friday at the next SSC . . . . . .

I am so pleased that this clip has received a generally positive response. There are many other clips from "Finders Keepers" on you-tube, posted by the same person as the clip I nominated. Watching them again , I was struck by the quality of the soundtrack by The Shadows and Cliff and I will be watching the complete film shortly as it didn't seem as cringeworthy as "Wonderful Life".
Malcolm Campbell, in his "A pocket guide to Shadow music" has this to say about " My Way"- " a moody, brooding vocal delivered by Marvin Welch & Rostill and graced with a stunningly atmospheric accompaniment from Hank. If Marvin Welch and Farrar had styled themselves more along these lines (i.e with less reliance on acoustic guitars and with a rather harder edge lyrically, with fewer "Tiny Robin" type offerings), your averasge Shadows fan of the 70's might have taken to them more readily ; as it was they did not take to them much at all ". To me that it is an interesting view and I feel that "My Way" would have fitted nicely alongside "Marmaduke" and even later tracks like some of the 1975 Eurovision tracks have the same mood.
