Break Another Dawn - two questions.

Noticing that Tony Meehan arranged and conducted this, I was wondering whether or not he is on the drums? The drumming is very powerful and distinctive and has always been something that has attracted me to this particular song. Admittedly it doesn't sound that much like Tony, but bearing in mind that he was clearly very versatile and that drumming styles had changed a lot between 1961 and 1970, I suppose it could be him. So, does anyone know for sure?

And secondly, can anyone help me with a particular lyric that has eluded me for decades?

"Time Don't Fly Fast Enough When You're Lying Here
Thinking Of The Day When You'll Be Free
Oh How I Envy the Bird With It's (???? ?? ????)
Still I'll Be Home In The Morning Before The Dew
They Won't Believe It When I'm Home."

Can anyone fill in the gaps? I've listened to it a million times and I just can't make out those words!

Thanks in advance.

Not the greatest rhyming lyric ever written, but OK in context...

Thanks Jim! Not sure if I would actually envy a bird if it only had "...a wing", but maybe I would if I was inside!!!!

Thanks again. I shall listen to the song again later and ask myself why I hadn't managed to figure it out myself - I've only had it since 1978!!!! Maybe I should get my ears syringed?

Dunno about that.

As a quick reaction, how about this for an alternative lyric (aimed very much in the same direction):

Time Don't Fly Fast Enough When You're Lying Here
Thinking Of The Day When You'll Be Free
Oh How I Envy the Bird soaring on those wings
Still I'll Be Home In The morning Before he sings
They Won't Believe It When I'm Home.

That's interesting. Brian Bennett drumming on a track arranged and conducted by his Shadows predecessor... I'm sure they all had a cracking time. Thanks.

Very good.

To be honest, I had given some thought to an alternative bit of rhyming and had come up with:

Oh How I Envy The Bird Way Up in The Blue
Still I'll Be Home in the Morning Before The Dew

I guess I can forget about ever winning an Ivor Novello...

Then "Would You Believe It" must also feature Brian on drums, as both tracks were recorded on the 15th of May 1970.
