Tommy and Phil Emmanuel also do this trick, but the earliest I've seen is Joe Maphis, Larry Collins and Merle Travis with all three of them playing Larry's double neck Mosrite on the old Town Hall Party US TV show, got a video of it somewhere...probably on YouTube somewhere.
