Pipeline 2011 countdown!

Just over a month to go to this year's Pipeline Convention in Watford.

If you have been before you will know what to expect. If you haven't, consider the musical feast which awaits...

Legend: promising a selection of Burns and Fender Shadows numbers;
The Flames: guaranteed to include some early Shads material as well as a range of classic rocking instros;
The Johnny Lundin Band: Johnny has an amazing pedigree as a guitarist in Sweden but is appearing here for the first time - his band includes the familiar figure of PO Alm, who establishes some kind of Pipeline record by playing four times in the last 16 years, with four different bands!!
Los Kiosk Bears: surf sounds, including some numbers from the repertoire of The Atlantics;
The Instro-Mentals: yes, our very own... playing a wide cross-section of 60s instrumentals

That sound pretty good to me. See you there?

As usual I am looking Forward to this year's Pipline convention and meeting up with friends from all over the UK.
Many thanks to Dave & Alan who have been organising this fantastic event for several years . :)
It is an Ideal opportunity for instrumental fans to hear some great music and meet many of the recording stars from
the late 50's up to the present day in a friendly and informal atmosphere.
For music collectors there are many venders providing CDs and recordings in other media formats.
The venue is ideal, and easy to get to via the M1/A40, with good catering and beverage facilities.

See you all there

Just over two weeks to go!

I have it on good authority that neither William or Kate will be there as they are busy with preparations for some other event. They will therefore miss 5 great bands and a chance to mingle with with like-minded instro fans, and possibly a few well-known musical personalities. Not that fans aren't personalities, but you know what I mean...

See you there with tie.
Jim.

Jim

Steve Jackson is threatening to mount a challenge to my supremacy in the sartorial stakes. I pointed out that others like yourself and young Daish have tried and failed. Bring it on!

A feature of the DVD for every Pipeline Convention is the 'Look Around The Convention'' where I whizz around during the breaks between bands with a camera getting a 'flavour' of the event. The amazing ties (and lately also the socks) of Mr Geddes are obviously a highlight and 'twould be a brave man who could outdo our Master-of-Ceremonies Extraordinaire.

However (and I'm finally getting to the point of this message) if there are any pretenders to the throne of King George I need to know about them. So don't hide your light under a bushell at Bushey!

I've taken soundings, Ray, the polls are holding up, and I'm quietly confident.

A reminder that you don't have to wait until Shadowmania for 'live' Shadows music - there will be plenty at Watford on Easter Sunday, plus CD stalls and loads of like-minded fans.

And I promise to wear a new tie.
