Rhythm 'n' Greens?

Postby Bison4 » 26 Mar 2011, 14:22

Greetings from Ethiopia!

Anybody know where I might get hold of a DVD copy of the film Rhythm 'n' Greens? It doesn't seem to be generally available anywhere! The last time I saw it on sale was at a Shads concert in Carlisle - about 15 years ago!
Also, was this the first time that The Shads played greenburst Marvins? I seem to remember Hank playing one in the film (but I could be wrong!) I know Hank played the greenburst Double Six in "On the Beech" but I think this was before the greenburst Marvin was seen. - Has anyone got information or comments?

I recorded the Rhythm 'n' Greens film sound track with a reel to reel recorder from the TV speaker when the film was broadcast on TV here in Australia in the late '60's...daft film, but the guitar playing and sounds were good fun!

Still got the tape somewhere, but no recorder to play it on.... :(

"Rhythm & Greens" has never been released on DVD. Only once on a limited edition VHS video in about 1989/1990. It's about time this film is issued on DVD, as is also "Finders Keepers". "Finders Keepers" was issued in 1996 by MGM on a VHS video. I remember someone mentioning on this forum, the quality of the master reel was not great, but I think it isn't that bad. It is one of my favourite Cliff Richard films.

I'd like to see 'Finders Keepers' as it features the Shadows quite heavily. I think they also sing 'My Way' in it.
I don't think it's even been shown on TV.

"Finders Keepers" has been shown on UK TV many times (the first time I can remember was 1972).

It is likely that the source circulating on DVD-R came from an air-check when the movie was shown on a digital satellite channel a few years ago.

Hi Phil.

Thanks for the link. I have tried to download this but have only found 3 parts. Does anyone know where the 4th part is? I guess there are 4 parts because the 3rd one ends abruptly.

Many thanks. Ben

Hi Ben,

although there are only 3 parts of Rhythm 'n' Greens on YouTube, they do add up to 30 minutes of the 32 minute film. So, only the closing credits are actually missing.

Regards,

Tom
