Hello Jay:

Were it not for the fact that I'm in California, USA, I'd be your man! This is exactly my role on the Shadows/Shads + Cliff numbers we play. Our lead player is always pokng at me, saying he's hearing me channel Bruce Welch! We also do a lot of surf, instrumental adaptations and some British Invasion. The others want to add another singer and go off in a more blues oriented direction, which interests me not one whit. So I shall soon be "sans band". At my age, I have claimed the right to be picky about what I play. If only I was 6,000 miles east, but I do rather like California.

Best of luck. I've watched some of you videos and am very impressed! You'll find someone, just hang in there.

Regards,

John

Hi john
Thanks for your reply, good To see the shadows music supported in the USA
a 12,000 mile trip for a rehearsal would certainly be pushing it
we have had a few enquiries, hopefuly we can find someone suitable among them.
Good luck with your Band hope it all works out ok for you.
Regards
Jay (Sunny Cambridgeshire)

Not trying to be funny here, Jay, but had you thought of getting in a keyboard? The Shadows kept going at the tail end of the 60s after Bruce left with Alan Hawkshaw on keys. When they reformed with Bruce back in place, the experience paved the way for going up to 5 with Cliff Hall playing the part of Norrie Paramor and his arrangements/piano/string/orchestra....

Just another way to keep a group functioning?

Good luck

Iain

Hi
Iain Keyboards Would be great, it is something we have thought about
and maybe in the future we may expand to a 6 piece? it would certainly be the icing on the cake
but i think you still need a strong rhythm guitar on most of the shads tracks.
i dont think the songs we are performing would work as well without the rhythm guitar part.
we have a few candidates for the rhythm guitar spot, just arranging auditions .
so if there are any other guitarist's interested please let me know ASAP.

ps did you go to Pipeline ?
there doesnt seem to be much reporting of the event on here at the momment?

Regards
jay

The trouble is - the more people in the band, the further the money's got to go!
