I have played a few clips and frankly I am astounded at how crisp the tracks are after all these years.

I too played just two tracks and was very impressed. I haven't bought my copy yet as I wanted to hear the live show (this Friday) first, but I'm convinced on a 'proper' hi fi system, it will sound great.

An interesting exercise would be to get the CD and also the
original recordings and put them as old - new -old new etc.

Firstly let me say that this is not meant to be a criticism!
Having listened to the Reunited album on Spotify I have to say that I prefer
the original versions of the songs, there's a sort of "Rawness" about the recordings.
The new versions are good facsimiles of the originals and to me show how technology in
music has advanced since the 60's - i.e. synths instead of orchestras etc.
I would have loved to have been able to see some of the early gigs, apart from the screaming!
That's one thing that is great about the Shadow music clubs.
