Postby iefje » 11 May 2011, 10:31

I still would like to see the following releases:
- The Shadows at the BBC (CD);
- The Shadows on BBC TV (DVD and/or Blu-Ray);
- Cliff Richard & The Shadows live in Luik 1964 (DVD and/or Blu-Ray);
- Cliff Richard & The Shadows live in Valkenburg 1965 (DVD and/or Blu-Ray);
- The Shadows live in Japan 1967 (CD);
- Marvin, Welch & Farrar at the BBC (CD);
- Marvin, Welch & Farrar on BBC TV (DVD and/or Blu-Ray);
- Cliff Richard & The Shadows the complete 20th anniversary concert (DVD and/or Blu-Ray);
- Cliff Richard & The Shadows the complete 25th anniversary concert (DVD and/or Blu-Ray);
- Cliff Richard & The Shadows the complete 30th anniversary concert (DVD and/or Blu-Ray);
- Hank Marvin & Brian Bennett live on tour 1994 (DVD and/or Blu-Ray).

Any other suggestions?

For videos which were recorded before HD was used, a Blu-Ray release would bring nothing compared to a DVD.

By the way, is there any news about the release of the "Final Reunion" on Blu-Ray ?

Well, I know that The Who's footage of the Isle of Wight Festival from 1970 has been issued on Blu-Ray and some Who-fan has said it looked slightly better than the DVD issue.

I can't speak for DVD/Blu-Ray but I do know that old films look better on HD TV rather than on ordinary TV, i.e. the film not being shot in hi-def.

Does anyone have a good (audio) recording of The Shads doing a Saturday (could be Sunday) Night Blackpool special from 1967. Set List was : Bombay Duck, Sleepwalk, Foottapper, and San Francisco. Dickie Henderson was the compere and it was a wonderful little mini-set, particularly Foottapper, which was brilliant.
Anyone???...............
Love to all,
Mart.

I would aso like to see some of the vintage tv shows on a dvd set, i know Bruce Welch tried this some years ago but the price was too high so he gave up.
I've also been patiently waiting for a CD of their BBC sessions to appear, (EMI & the BBC disagreed over copyright) the only ones we have are the recent Cliff and the Drifters set from Rollercoaster but i'd rather prefer just the Shads tracks instead (not a massive Cliff fan!), bur by the time they are released i'll probably be dead! :D

There are some more recordings to add to that. To date, there never has been a complete singles collection on CD of all tracks in their original single versions. For the 31 singles from 1959 to 1968, this would mean all tracks in mono. There has been a 4 CD box of all EMI released singles from 1959 to 1980, but most tracks in stereo, not in the original single version. From the Polydor period, there has been "The Singles Collection", consisting of all A-sides released between 1980 and 1989, issued in 2001, but some tracks were represented by promo edits and earlier fade-outs. Most of the Polydor B-sides were issued in one place on disc three of the 1992 CD box "The Shadows Complete" and on the 1998 CD "Shadstrax".
Also, a complete collection of The Shadows' tracks, issued exclusively initially on EP, in mono format, still has to appear.
