I found this clip on YouTube earlier by a female guitarist called Zoe McColloch:

I've never heard of her but i thought this might be interest to forum members here, she does a mean version of 'The Savage'.

Thanks for reminding me about it.
Quite an old clip - Zoe's a big growed up lady now.
Doesnt seem to be performing these days and the word is that she now TEACHES guitar in South Wales - good for her!

Hi all
Zoe's version of Eve Of The War from Jeff Waynes War Of The Worlds Is awesome but was never released on disc but should have been. Her albums are great, go buy one, well worth it.

Great piece of music.

Yes - young Zoe (& she still is very young - early 20s) is now teaching all styles of guitar to many, many pupils. She is an outstanding player. Wonderful natural ability allied to tremendous work ethic. Rumour has it that she may put in an appearance at Jet's Tribute concert at Amersham on July 2nd - but that's not 100% confirmed as yet. As well as the Rapiers and Billie Davis - there will be several special guests. But.....I don't know who!!! Honest. Nothing official can be announced until all the 'ts' are crossed and the 'is' dotted as it were. But.....with the Rapiers and Billie (plus the film about Jet) it's already going to be a great evening anyway.

Bests...Rob :)

Thanks for the link. Zoe is an excellent player! There are very few female lead guitarists on YouTube who play Shadows and I don't think there are any in my age group at all. I'd love to encourage ladies over 50 to learn too. There seem to be plenty of female guitarists who play acoustic and also bass but very few lead guitar players (of the Shadows and instrumental music of that time, I mean). However it's probably not surprising because male and female roles were quite different in the 50s and 60s from now.
Best wishes
Rosemary

I must admit i don't know female guitarists that are considered as 'greats' but Zoe certainly comes close. She's certainly practiced 'The Savage' and sounds quite close to the original. Some of the comments on YouTube were unduly harsh.
