I was lucky enough to meet Alan Jones (former bass player in the Shadows). :D
He was at the opening of a new Guitar shop "the Guitar Lounge" in Peterborough
the new project of Nick Smith. I played a couple of songs for Alan and had a couple of pics with him. it was well cool..

Hi Peter.
As Amanda says, you couldn't wish to meet a nicer guy. A gentleman and a scholar. Is that Alan's bass on the wall?
Regards Geoff.

Alan is indeed a very nice man. The last time I had a chat with him, was back in April, 2006 at the fan meeting in Tilburg. I think it was on his birthday that year. As a present, I gave him a videotape of the Local Heroes' performance of the 27th of September, 1997 at Motel Van der Valk, Eindhoven, The Netherlands, which I filmed myself. The particular concert featured Jet Harris and Brian Locking as special guests. My father and I got their autographs (and Alan Jones's and Cliff Hall's) as well as pictures taken. It was the first time we met them. The band played great, with Barry Gibson and Phil Kelly sharing lead and rhythm guitar duties.
I had a very nice chat, about his career in general, his unfortunate car accident, his time with The Shadows and other famous artists. Last year, on the 11th of April, 2010, he appeared at the fan meeting in Tilburg as a member of tribute band The Shadowers, backing Jet Harris and Brian Locking.
