If Roberto Pistolesi's interesting book is accurate, by tomorrow, June 13, it will be 50 years since the Shadows recorded Nivram - their only jazzy piece. I will celebrate that by playing it as best I can.

Ah, yes, of course. But it was "Nivram" that became popular here. In the 60s, a disc-jockey friend on a middle of the road station (The Shadows were considered hard rock music then) had been playing it not knowing much else about the Shadows. After 1962, teenagers' tastes shifted to the rest of the British Invasion, the Beatles especially, and The Shadows became history here. The other fine tunes you listed, well know to us Shadows enthusiasts, never made it to the popular market here, so, here in the tropics, it was and always will be Nivram here as the Shadows' "jazz" piece.
I note in the Final Tour that Hank plays it on an acoustic. I liked it better on the Gretsch. 50 years ago today. Our bass guitarist promised to learn it!
