OT: Trapped Ulnar Nerve

Have managed to trap the Ulnar Nerve in my left hand - symptoms are numb little & ring finger and shooting electrical sensations up my left forearm. Apparently its the less common nerve to damage, usually its the median nerve which results in Carpel Tunnel which I've heard a few guitarists suffering with.

So - no guitar playing for a while and a wrist splint on ........... :(

anyone else experienced this ???????

I suffered from the same problem in my left hand a couple of years back and after electrical tests in hospital, they traced it to my elbow - not where I'd have imagined it could be trapped! Outcome was they operated (day surgery) to free it and there's just the faintest remnants of a very small fine scar remaining.
Apparently it can take a year or more before the numbness or pjns & needles sensation can disappear completely but because the nerve had been trapped for some time, there's no guarantees as to how much full feeling will return to the hand/fingers.

I still occasionally have a slight numbness in the little finger and adjacent ring finger but nowhere near as prominent as it once was - this is probably about as good as it will ever be now after all this time. Could have been a lot worse had they just left it and not operated when they did. Interestingly it's playing the guitar and keyboard that has helped keep the fingers exercised and the blood circulating. Knew music was a great healer, but . . . :)

Regards,
Martyn
