The Rapiers at Southampton Fri 8 July

Hi,

The Rapiers will be playing a gig at Totton on Friday 8 July and there will also be The Attributes in support. This is a Rapiers solo gig and they won't be backing anyone. It will be just The Rapiers on their own and that's when they're at their best playing the Shadows numbers and there will be plenty of vocals too.

The show is in memory of a lifelong Shadows and Rapiers fan Terry Shakery who died recently. The proceeds of the evening will go to charity.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. (Venue rules) No tickets will be sold on the door.

Don't miss this opportunity to see The Rapiers at their best at this charity event

Tickets £10-00 in advance only. Phone 02380 863356 or 02381 782071

£10 is a very good price to see the excellent Rapiers considering tickets for lesser bands have been more expensive.

Yes Terry, extremely good value for The Rapiers, who are quite easily the No. 1 Shadows Tribute Band in the UK & Europe.

This despite the self publicity to the contary from others whom we know well.

We bought our tickets this morning from Ann Green.

£10 per ticket is indeed an excellent price considering the quality of this band, and extremely generous to donate all the proceeds to charity. Interesting that they don't claim to be the No1 Shadows Tribute Band in UK & Europe, but leave it to the paying customers to decide - and I'm sure they will always have many who return.

Thanks for your comments and it's good to see Bob buying tickets for this popular show in Totton which has been sold out on previous occasions. It promises to be a good night.

The Rapiers fans know a good band when they see one and yes they probably are the best Shadows type band.

What a night it was and a full venue as usual and over £1000-00 was raised during the evening.

Starting off The Attributes played for an hour giving us an excellent mix of 60's music from the 4 piece band.

The Rapiers played two 45 minute sets with a mix of Shadows music with some Cliff numbers like Move It and Do you Want To Dance, Neil belting out Good Golly Miss Molly and Nathan singing Wooly Bully. Other numbers included The Rapiers own Buckle Shoe Stomp and Go Back To Daddy, tracks you only hear when The Rapiers are playing on their own. A fabulous evening and of music and dancing with the floor packed for most of the evening.

On behalf of Kim may I thank everyone who was there and to those who contributed to the raffle and the collection later on for the benefit of the charities.

I will add some photos to the gallery later.

Hi Barry,

Glad it was a good and profitable night for a worthy cause.

You may be interested to know that 'Buckleshoe Stomp' was co-written and recorded in the 60s by John Boulden from the Surrey Club and a not infrequent visitor to the South Coast Club at The Heroes.

Kind regards,

Terry

Hi Terry,

I was aware John wrote/co wrote Buckle Shoe Stomp and a good rocking number it is and it went down well last night too. I have met John and he has been to SCSC and it would be nice to see him there again.

We really enjoyed seeing The Rapiers again last night. Their sincere contribution to this special event was very much appreciated by all that attended. We do look forward to seeing them once again at Shadowmania.

Cheers,

Bob & Charlotte
