Hi I am MickyD and I am new to this forum....hello to all
I am learning to play bass guitar, got myself a white Burns John Rostill and have been a hugh fan of The Shadows for years.
Its all new to me and I am understanding tabs now so if any bass players or guitarists can point me in the right direction where to get The Shadows bass tabs free, nothing too complicated as I am over 50 now and I really would appreciate it.
thanks a lot

Hi
A good starting point although not free would be the publication HITS OF THE SHADOWS OFF THE RECORD published by International Music Publications. It gives all lead rythm bass and drum tabs and music notations for most of the big hits.
Maybe someone in this community has a surplus copy to sell to you?

Hi Micky
welcome to Shadows music
I dont have anything in tab format ,but i have written out most of the shads popular bass lines in
standard music notation, there are some good tab sites if you need tab though not free try Tony Clout (Tabman)
you can find his details in the Links section on this site.
Great choice of Bass in the Burns Rostill

Hi, Micky,

There are several Shadow music clubs reasonably near to you.

Watford is just over 40 miles away: http://shadowmusic.bdme.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=41

Kent Shadow Music Club meets at Strood and is a little over 60 miles from you: http://shadowmusic.bdme.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=70

The absolute nearest for you would be the Surrey club at Walton / Hersham (about 13 miles): http://shadowmusic.bdme.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=147

I hope this is helpful.

The South Coast Club meets every three weeks at The Heroes pub in Waterlooville on a Wednesday evening. This is a convenient trip from Guildford down the A3.

A bit further, but maybe better in terms of time is our club in Seaford, Sussex as we meet once a month on a Sunday afternoon from 1:00 - 5:00pm. The venue serves food and drink and several of our players and supporters make a day of it at the seaside. We have players of all abilities, ranging from novice to proficient and there is a friendly atmosphere from which to seek advice and develop technique. We'd pleased to see you there, Micky. Our next meeting is July 31st. See the 'Club Area' for details or send a PM.

Kind regards,

Terry & Ray

As has already been said, you have two easy choices. The Surrey club meets at Hersham Comrades Club once a month where The Silver Shadows play and back any players who want to play with the band. Alternatively The Shadders do the same at The Heroes in Waterlooville every three weeks. You will find two quite different styles of playing with these two bands which you'll no doubt find interesting.

The next meetings are:

South Coast Shadows Club - 27th July
Surrey Shadows Club - 19th August

Both are within 1/2 hour drive from Guildford (once the Hindhead tunnel is open).

Bob.
