Hi,

I once heard that the Shad's gave a special 25th anniversary concert somewhere in the UK. Does anyone have informations about this concert ( Shadows line-up, ex-members playing with them, list of titles performed ) ?
Would also like to know if it was recorded on tape or on video.

Regards
Peter K

I went to the 25th Anniversary concert at the NEC Birmingham in 1984 with Cliff and the Shadows. The line up then was Hank, Bruce, Brian, Alan Jones and Cliff Hall for the Shadows not sure if this is the one you mean :|

They certainly did a 25th anniversary tour in 1983/84. I saw them in Manchester and Derby. As stated already, line-up was Marvin, Welch, Bennett, Hall and Jones. At the Manchester Apollo, Freddie Starr got up with them and performed Move It. Or it could have been The Young Ones!!! I have a full set-list somewhere. A great show by the way!

Hi,

There was a special night at Blazer's night club in Windsor on 20/11/83, Which was organised by John Friesen.

The Shadows line-up was: Marvin,Welch, Bennett, Jones & Hall.

Bernie Clifton open the show, at the interval there was a raffle of signed Lps & clothing which you choose what you want,

plus John Friesen auctioned Bruce's gold disc of Apache- which if i remember went for £1100 pounds.Plus everyone received a free flexi record with a special message by the shadows and Jonh Friesen.

And a good night had by all.

I saw The Shadows at the Dominion Theatre, Tottenham Court Road, London in 1983 on their Silver Anniversary Tour. Memory is a bit foggy, but I have a feeling that Mark Knopfler joined them on stage at one point, but cannot be sure.

I have a copy of the programme at home. I'll try to put up some scans from it later tonight or over the weekend.

Richard.

I saw them at the Liverpool Empire on that tour. I remember Hank eating some liquorice allsorts and then trying to announce Shindig with his mouth full! It was a longer set than usual: they did several songs on that tour like Don't Make My Baby Blue which they didn't normally play - until the Final Tour in 2004-5.

Yes - I too was there.

The Shadows played Theme from Local Hero and Wonderful Land with Mark Knopfler on additional rhythm guitar (a sunburst '57-reissue-type Strat, for those who are interested).

Shazam, Foottapper, Theme for young Lovers, Time is Tight, Shaddogie, Move It, The Day I Met Marie, Summer Holiday, The Young Ones, Atlantis, Equinox part 5, Chariots of Fire, Lucille, Rip It Up, Blue Suede Shoes, Walk Don't Run, Memory, Frightened City, Wonderful Land, Theme From Local Hero, Rise and Fall Flingelbunt, You were Always on My Mind, Classical Gas, All I have to Do Is Dream, Little B, Don't Cry For Me Argentina, Riders in The Sky, Apache And FBI

I have my wife to thank for noting these down
