The Shadows on stage in the 60s

Postby George Geddes » 11 Aug 2011, 16:36

As promised, some sample setlists from the 1960s. Apologies for the delay - rather than retype the original, I OCR'd the pages but a lot of errors (Flingel Punt!!) cropped up. So, E&OE - additions and corrections welcome. The full file resides in a folder labelled Shadows book update, which I hope will reach fruition some day...

First rate George. Many thanks for all of this. Now......are you really going to update / re - publish your splendid Shadows' tome?? Put me down for a copy if you do. Did your listing here have anything to do with predicitive text?? I just love "These Far Young Lovers" and "Big 8". Seriously though George - this is a great piece of research, built up / collated over many years I'm sure. Thanks again for sharing it with us all.

Bests.....Rob :D

Thanks, Rob. I scanned the pages from the SCOFA mag and used OCR software. I thought I had caught most of the bad reads but obviously a few slipped through.

The book update is something I work on from time to time, but if I can discipline myself (ooo err, missus) over the winter months it might make it from the back burner to the front burner...

George,

A fellow musician mate of mine (now sadly passed on) went to the 1967 show here in Adelaide, South Australia, which you have included in the list.

He took a bag and sneaked a small reel to reel tape recorder into the Hotel Australia and bootlegged recorded the Shads show- he played it to me some years ago.

Hi George

Those set lists bring back some happy memories and confirm what was said on here that such as Frightened City, Wonderful Land, Man of Mystery, Guitar Tango. Kon Tiki, Shindig, The Savage etc, were not played at all after they were 'current' singles.

Regards

Stuart
