My band, The MoonCats, will be playing a gig at Hard Rock Cafe, Oslo, December 15. We would like to include a few Christmas related songs in the rep. and wonder if there are any good examples out there of "Christmas carols in the style of The Shadows"?

As with lots of songs, anything can be an instrumental, i did a version of Shakin Stevens Merry Christmas everyone in the style of the shadows for a laugh at one of the shadows clubs and its currently on you tube, probably the best place to look on youtube as there are a lot of versions of christmas songs that you can use for inspiration

Has to be the best Xmas song of all time - Roy Wood's " I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day" Woooooo I feel a jive comin on!

How about "We Three Kings" in A minor, with the rhythm guitar playing in Bruce's FBI style?

The best "Christmas" tune of all time: Leroy Anderson's Sleigh Ride. Like a lot of other seasonal offerings, it's really about winter rather than a religious festival (sorry, Ozzies!).

"Good King Wenceslas" would probably be suitable with scope for ad libs as well. One of the best versions of this carol, albeit vocal, was recorded by the "Roches" and Terry Wogan played it every Christmas on his Radio 2 morning show. The vocal harmonies and backing was excellent and quite different from the original. I tried unsuccessfully to get a copy.
