Hi Everyone,

Some important news!!

The Heritage Foundation has agreed to commission a Blue Plaque in memory of Jet. They invite you to a Memorial Lunch at The Marriott Hotel, Regents Park, London NW3 3ST on Sunday, 1 April 2012. The lunch will be preceded by the unveiling of a Blue Plaque at a venue associated with Jet. (Details to be confirmed later.) Bruce Welch will be attending - subject to availability - and details of more special guests will be announced soon!

Tickets cost £78 which includes wine with the lunch and entertainment. Tickets are now available from The Heritage Foundation credit card ticket hotline 020 834 29953. Tickets are limited to 250 so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Coaches will be available for those wanting transport from the unveiling ceremony to the Marriott Hotel. The cost will be £5 per person. Please contact David Graham, Chairman of the Heritage Foundation on 020 834 29953 to pre-book your seat.

Very many thanks to Dave Holbrook for his help with nominating Jet for the Blue Plaque. We hope that as many people as possible will be able to come to this special event to celebrate Jet’s life and to pay tribute to his unique contribution to music.

Hi Ian,
No we don't know definitely. Obviously we're working closely with the Heritage Foundation on this event. Janet and Jet's Aunt Chris will decide where, but the Heritage Foundation prefer the location to be in London if possible. The first step is to contact the owner of any building. There are several on the 'shortlist' but we can't say anything publicly until the relevant people have been contacted. We may need alternative suggestions - so I'm happy to pass on any ideas for locations to Janet.
Best wishes
Audrey

Hi Audrey,

What a wonderful idea to mark the achievements and major influence that Jet Harris had for all us Shadows Music fans. I bought our tickets yesterday from David Graham, who incidently, is a very interesting & knowledgeable person to talk with.

Cheers,

Bob & Charlotte

Audrey, I hope you will forgive me for replying on this thread but I have a suggestion that you may possibly wish to consider for fundraising purposes.

I've been a long time fan/admirer of Jet and his work since "Apache" days and in recognition of his legacy has any thought been given to producing a sticker version of The Jet Harris Memorial Fund Logo (as it appears on the Home page of this site).

I'm sure it would be popular and give The Fund widespread recognition and awareness.

Incidentally I'm that much of a fan I have Copy No.2 of John Skelton's limited edition print.

Hope this will prove to be an idea that is worthy.

Kind regards, Ian.

Hi Ian and Dave,
Many thanks for your suggestions!! It's not something that we had considered, but I think it's a great idea! I'll talk to the small team of volunteers who are looking after the administration of the Fund and I'll get back to you. I guess it'll depend on the initial outlay for the badges, or stickers. Again, thank you for suggesting this. Please keep the ideas coming!!
Best wishes
Audrey
