Oh Boy episode recovery
Posted: 15 Dec 2011, 14:19Thought you all might be interested that Oh Boy from 28th march 1959 has been recovered by the BFI from a private collector. Apparently its 16mm, lasts 25 mins and features Cliff and The Drifters. Whether anyone will ever get to see it is another matter. also recovered this year Billy cotton band show 12/5/62 10mins featuring cliff and shads again on 16mm. Nice to see stuff turning up even after 50 years. They also found 2 previously missing dr who episodes this year.
Expect that on dvd some time in the next year or two i should imagine.
Shame we're unlikely to see a Jet era dvd release in Earth's lifetime. There's plenty of material as we all know. Oh well, maybe John Beecher can whip out some more bbc radio sessions in the future.
Question for anyone in the know- does any Cliff/Drifters audio survive from Oh Boy other than from the 2 (now 3 !) surviving episodes ?
