Pastmasters at the Acorn Theatre -

Postby Tony Szpala » 06 Feb 2012, 02:09

I've just returned form the Acorn Theatre - Worsop - where Pastmasters were playing.
On this occassion the band were a 7 piece.
It was an excellent evening of entertainment with a very varied repetoire - including music from Buddy Holly, The Big Booper, Ritche Valens, John Lennon, Billy Fury, Johnny Cash, Floyd Cramer, Jet Harris & Tony Meehan, T Rex, Sidney Bechet, Elvis Presley, Boots Randolf, The Byrds, The Tornados, John Leyton, Gary Moore - the list goes on!
The band have played at the Acorn on a number of occassions and are now well established there.
if you have not seen Pastmasters before I can unreservedly recommend them .They are as good as the original artists and in some cases surpass them.

Best wishes

Tony

Hi, i also went to The Acorn Theatre to see The Pastmasters. Great show over two hours of non stop REAL MUSIC. What a lot of thought went into the show songs from all greats now In The Pearly Gates. Done in the usual Pastmasters style slick and polished some great guitar playing and top sound. Daniel played some real good lead fills on his Tele. What a voice Mal has and he can play a bit, well a lot. Also the man at the back left not bad. (Great drumming Dave ) Missed the Shadows tunes but thank god they are not at the gates. Looking forward to May 13th at Acorn Cliff and Shadows Show with The Pastmasters, never seen or heard them played better. Great show and the lighting was spot on. Well done Joy. Cheers Neil :D :D :D

Thanks for those kind comments, good to see you both there and brave the weather, I can't believe it was almost full given those conditions outside.
I didn't miss doing the Shads stuff too much simply because we had strong material to choose from to replace it - Parisienne Walkways, Hit & Miss, Last Date, Diamonds, Yakety Sax and Petite Fleur.
A few technical hitches with the lighting in the theatre (the desk locked up at the intro) but my other half salvaged some lighting from somewhere to get us under way.
Looking forward to the next one already. :)
