Totally bonkers and totally brilliant...

Postby George Geddes » 13 Mar 2012, 15:51

... is the only way I can describe the Spaghetti Western Orchestra, who played the City Halls in Glasgow last night. Recreating the soundtracks of Ennio Morricone in loving detail on an amazing range of instruments and non-instruments from a theremin to a packet of cornflakes, it was the most entertaining gig I have been to in ages.

Only gripes: it was too short and the CD was way too expensive... Couldn't take away from the sheer musical and comic genius of it all. Catch their show if you can.

You mean the keyboard, designed to look like a huge Vox?

Thank you for posting this, George, Jim. I had never heard of them. I have spent a good portion of this morning watching their videos, including their BBC interview. What an amazing group. They are Australian! Congratulations to all the Aussies here; I am so impressed. They are such a multi=talented group, and not a large one either.

What the Spaghetti Western Orchestra is doing is what I want so much to do - perform Shadows and other guitar band music on stage, complete with all the backing musicians, chorus, and sound effects, all live. Those videos inspire me and give me more ideas.
