For fans of Jet Harris please read and comment

Ok fellow friends and fans of Jet Harris, if (and I do say if) there was a special beer made and bottled with a special label to commemorate the life and legacy of Jet Harris would you buy a bottle?
It might not happen but if enough people would buy then it's more likely that it will happen,
it will also help to raise money for the Jet Harris memorial fund, so would you purchase a bottle?
they would be strictly limited edition too
Please comment below on your thoughts and if you would buy a bottle or not.
Thank you

As a lifelong fan of Jet through his Shadows days and his solo career I think you are definitely "offside."
Alcohol brought Jet down and led to problems in his professional and personal life.
I think the ideal memorial is already in place with the fundraising for cancer research through The Jet Harris Memorial Fund.

Hi, I can see what your trying to say but I personally believe that Jet would of loved this idea, yes he had problems with drink but he got over it so it could be seen in this way so it is a positive rather than a negative, they would be a special limited edition and for many people wouldn't get opened, and it will be a way for raising money for the jet Harris memorial fund and any way of raising money and awareness can't be a bad thing and you would have a little keepsake too

In a way, I agree with both Ian H. and JetMW. But mostly I second the motion on what Ian H. said. It is a noble cause to create or sell anything where the proceeds will go to the Jet Harris Memorial Fund -- and yes, if I saw a bottle for sale, I would buy one, I won't lie. But, to be honest, I think it is a very weird idea and Ian says it exactly right. I was going to make an analogy to illustrate the point, but that would probably be in as bad taste as the idea itself.

Good intentions, bad idea.

Respectfully,
Donna

Initially my thoughts were the same as those posted by Ian and Donna, but then I read the post 'Jet Has a Beer Named After Him'.
Take a moment to read Audrey's response.
Cheers,

Hi, I have been in talks with Audrey last night about this, many people would of liked to buy the beer that was named after Jet but couldn't get to the beer festival due to location or work commitments so I asked Audrey if it was available in a bottle as I would love to buy a bottle myself, (not to drink) but Audrey told me that it's only available in cask, I thought that this was a shame and I said to her that I'm sure if it were bottled with Jet on the label I'm sure many people would buy it as a keepsake to add to there collection of shadows bits collected over the years, and Audrey said she would find out if this could happen because of messages we have received from people wanting to purchase it,
This was just an idea and we just wanted a rough idea of how many would sell and if it were financially viable to raise enough money to get it bottled,
I'm sorry if I've caused anyone upset by suggesting this idea and my apologies if you've been offended or think this is in bad taste but I think it's a shame not to bottle this beer as so many fans worldwide would miss out on a lovely piece of memorabilia because you can't keep a pint from cask for years to come!

To Donna- thanks for your response.
To raise funds for any cause is indeed commendable but unfortunately I cannot get any enthusiasm for using a bottle of beer to do so.
There are surely more agreeable methods to raise funds.
I.e.Badges,stickers,photographic memorabilia,etc.
We have how many members on this site?
Amazing lack of silence so far!
To JMW & JB - I appreciate what you are saying and your belief in such but I'm not sold on this particular idea.
Ian

i must admit when i first read that there was going to be a beer named after Jet i did think it was in bad taste however the fact it is raising money for the research it has to be a good thing regardless. If it was to be bottled and sold then i think it would certainly raise a lot more money as those who are too far away would be able to get one and have the bottle as a keepsake. forget the problems Jet had, It has been allowed by both Audrey and Janet so they havent seen any problem with it so lets all raise a beer to Jet and remember him and raise money for cancer research in the process.

Speaking as CAMRA fan, I know it's easy to do a one-off special brew for an occasion. You just mix up the recipe, brew a batch, fill up the casks and sell them straight away. Bottling, labelling, marketing, delivery etc is a whole different ball game. Would it sell in sufficient quantities to cover the production costs and turn in a profit that could top up the memorial fund? My guess is not.

That said, I think it's lovely that people are having imaginative thoughts on how to raise more money for Jet's fund.

Certainly the idea of a bottled beer with a commerative label would be most welcomed by many including
myself.
A few years ago an Isle of Man brewery did a 40th anniversary bottled brew for Radio Caroline North the
pirate station.
Unfortunately it seemed only one outlet on the island was a retail stockist and wanted to charge a small
fortune on a minimum 12 case pack plus carriage!!! so this was a problem, and I doubt they would have
sent a batch of labels only.
