A Watkins IC300 Copicat has just sold on E-bay for£133.00 with 24 bids.
To quote from description " this is a very cool piece of gear for those Pink Floyd/
Syd Barret/Psychedelic sounds that can only be achieved by tape loops I.E 4 inputs
to create some real walls of sound!!!
Hmm far out man!! but knowing the units limitations I can't see it producing "That
Sound" for Arnold, See Emily Play etc, but then again?

As far as I know, Pink Floyd mostly used Binson echo units...

My direct experience is that a WEM Copicat is at least as good as a Binson .

David Gilmour's early gear did indeed include the Binson Echorec II
His early guitars were mainly Telecasters , and his amps were Selmer, he also used a Vox Wha and the Arbiter Fuzz Face pedals .

Hope this helps ,

Regards
Dave

Me too, I've had 3 Copicats and 2 Binsons in my time.
The echos on both Binsons was very distorted.

I don't know what gear Pink Floyd used in their early years, but on the film "Live at Pompeii" shot in 1971, you can see and hear the Binson they used.
In recent years David Gilmour used digital echo units, but on his "Remember that night" DVD filmed in 2006 at the Royal Albert Hall, you can see the late Rick Wright still having a Binson...

So they were on Meazzi, that was fully part of their sound !

You're correct Didier , I try to introduce distortion when setting an echo up in machines like a Q20 but
the Binsons were way too distorted for me. Horrible.
