For anyone who has not purchased or found a DVD copy in the bargain bin of their local
superstore, its being shown on BBC2 this evening(Sat) at 11-15 pm.
Described as a " satirical comedy drama" its depressing portrayal of Joe Meek and his
associates has to be seen especially if the viewer is aware of the truer reality of some
of the scenes.
Other than this I wont comment further!!!

Having watched this film last night, I was curious how close "Telstar" was to "La Marche de Austerlitz" the French tune that sparked off the plagiarism case which robbed Joe of the royalties. Luckily good old you-tube has given the answer, what do you think? http://youtu.be/MSdvNN8nGps

Parts of it do sound familiar (Telstar) but nearly every hit record has parts that could be construed as being 'nicked'

I always thought parts of "Fall in Love With You" and "Wonderful land" were quite similar!

I must confess that until watching "Telstar" last night, I had not heard of the plagiarism case that robbed Joe Meek of his royalties. However I do recall as a child, the feeling that the theme from "The High Chapperal, sounded rather similar.

Just how close does a tune have to be , before it can be considered a copy?

Dave Colin and Neil only appear very briefly as crowd scene extras at an awards presentation.
Blink and you will miss it!!
