It's been thirty years ago today, that The Shadows recorded their "'Live' At Abbey Road" album in studio 2 at Abbey Road Studios in London. I remember hearing it for the first time twenty years ago now, in the summer of 1992. It was the original vinyl version I heard then. Among my favourites are the instrumental tracks and of the vocals, "Runaway" and "Johnny B. Goode". I bought the original 1989 CD issue in 2001 and had it autographed by Bruce in Tilburg. The CD issue omitted the references to the free album. The original LP was given free with the 1982 studio album "Life In The Jungle". I know that Dave Holbrook was among the lucky fans to actually attend the recording session.

I was there as well. Not only did I see the Shads recording the album (I'm sure I can hear me on Arty's Party) but I met Dave Holbrook outside Abbey Road. What a fantastic day. I can't believe it was 30 years ago, how time flies.

I remember having read, the order of the tracks played was different to the order on the album. The instrumental tracks were played first and then the vocals. I think "Oh! Boy" was played last. All tracks are live, except for "Over In A Flash" which is live, but has a little overdubbing, although I don't know which parts of the track.

I wonder whether there were any video recordings made during the session?
