Heres A intersting video from 1969
Hank And Bruce Playing Apache With Baldwin Badged Guitars
John Rostill Playing a Fender Jazz bass & and a dep drummer
They are obviously miming to the original version of Apache.
I guess this must have been when Brian Bennett was unavailable
and John Rostill's Burns bass was in for repair.
regards
Jay

This clip is from a sixties special on one of the Sky channels that I have saved, Rostill played the Fender whenever he could and it's Tony Meehan on drums.

And Rostill is playing with the "ashtray" on.
I wonder if any of the dancers know that 40+ years on, people would still be watching that video.

Jay, thank you for posting that video. It is really interesting. And dave, thank you for identifying Tony Meehan. I watched the video before I saw your reply, and I was wondering who that was. I thought maybe Trevor Spencer, but the more I watched him I thought no it's not Trevor. Tony has a certain way of moving the drumsticks, I see it now. I never saw him with the long hair so I didn't recognise him. John is playing with the ashtray on...is that akin to taking a photo with the lens cap on? It's cool, though.
Kind regards,
Donna

Tony Meehan was also featured in the TV special "After Ten Follows Ten", recorded in 1968 and broadcasted on the 11th of June, 1968. Also of interest in this special, are Hank's specs, which were oval like the ones he later wore from about 1971 to about 1975.

HI
John's Bass was knackered by then. He used it at the Stockton Fiesta Club in early December and HE never used it again. Paul Ferris used it for a week at Batley Variety Club in April 1970 but John used his Jazz Bass for what was his farewell appearance with the Shadows in June 1970.

It doesn`t matter because this video isn`t historical correct. Miming with Burns guitars to the orig. APACHE
backingtrack - a mortal sin - and no
MEAZZI in sight. Oh god !

I've always thought John looked a bit annoyed on this one! He had to mime to Lic in
On The Beach and here he is, having to mime to Jet. At least his bass is a Fender

It's "After Ten Fellas...Ten". The After Ten Follows Ten title is a mistake but is often repeated, although it doesn't make sense.
Best wishes,

I think I read somewhere that Brian would have been available but Hank had decided to do this with Tony. Can anyone confirm or correct me?
