Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid, Cracker) Shadows Fan?
He! He! Every month Mojo magazine runs a little featurettte called "All Back To My Place". In said featurette musicians and celebs are gently quizzed about their musical tastes. One of the questions is always 'What was the first record you bought - and where did you buy it?' Robbie Coltrane's answer? 'I think it was probably the Shadows' Apache - for three shillings. I bought it in Woolworth's in Glasgow.' GASP! SHOCK! HORROR! Now.....the price of a single in July / August 1960 was.....erm 6/8d or was it 6/3d (in old money). Now....Woolworths....3 shillings...??? It can only have been the Embassy label cover version (WB 409) by Bud Ashton (coupled with a version of Duane Eddy's Because They're Young). Oh dear, oh dear. Robbie....didn't you notice the difference????
