With the last Shadowmania behind us now ,I wonder what next year will bring, maybe a change of heart from Bruce or maybe a new person or persons putting on a show in the same format, we have been lucky down south with it held here each year.
Would it bring in the punters without Bruce on the bill?
Would it be a two day event?
Maybe two events at the same time north and south...the ideas are endless, but one thing for certain it needs to be planned well in advance to make it run as slick as Shadowmania has done all these years.
Personally I think that without Bruce Welch it would not have the same attraction to people in this country and abroad, there is a need for something to continue in the same vein but what?
Or maybe the whole thing has had it's day...........You tell me

I don't see why it can't continue on some guise, it would obviously need about 5 shads bands but that's easy enough, finding a venue with hotel etc on site and facilities all weekend would be best same as lakeside, location wouldn't matter as people come from all round to attend

You blinking spudpickers darn sarf have it long enough.
If there's going to be anything going on it should be up here, in the Midlands.
As Amanda said, there's a perfect venue at the Metropole at the NEC and if not that then lots of others in or around Brum. ( and Bloxwich )

It strikes me that what's required is a location which has ample accommodation and unrivalled facilities for performances by the top tribute acts. Somewhere that has other attractions for those (wives/partners/children??) who don't want uninterrupted access to the world's finest music. (are there such people?) Perhaps a beach, and attractions with historical and literary connections; maybe access via a Steam Railway line to the finest scenery Britain has to offer. If only there was such a pla.................... Hang on!! It's right here in Whitby. Now, why has nobody thought of that before??
That's it then! Job done! I'll go round tomorrow and get Keg to run off the posters and the tickets. Invitations to the bands will follow. Now, we'll need someone to organize a Friday night gathering. Any ideas, anyone? Blimey!! How easy was that?
See you all there,
Mart.

The midlands would suit more people if a suitable location could be found, Surrey was quite a trek from here, never mind those further North or overseas.
It would also mean that I wouldn't have to skip work for the day like I had to last Friday. But then as I'm the truancy officer, who's going to find out... I did have a forged note from my mum

I have to agree with ecca, NEC is central, good motorway connections, airport nearby, if only the locals spoke the queens English (just kidding as I have good friends in Brum).
Whitby would be fine for me too, I can stay with family in Scarbro'
Lakeside was best personally as I now live in Surrey but just let me know where and when, if its to the same high standard as this years event then count me in.

Sadly unless you have someone with a similar profile and financial security to underwrite such a project it's not going to happen.
The cost of the NEC plus food, drink, seating, lighting, PA is likely to be very serious money, even for a deposit let alone guaranteeing the whole hire sum if it's not a financial success.
We used to have contact with the musical director of the Circus Tavern in Essex, although I don't think the venue is as large, he might encourage his management to take a risk?
On the other hand just maybe a holiday camp group might be interested, after all they already put on general 60's weekends, they have stages, lighting, PA, bars and they have the facility for making large quantities of food.
When you consider the Friday event it really is a weekend event, of course, if Lakeside have made money over the years, they've had a full hotel, bar takings let alone a proportion of the ticket sales, they may wish to stage it themselves, if so I wonder how large a payment the various bands would want.
But we would need to form a Shadowmania management committee to make it work.
