Did anyone notice the different closing theme music of New Tricks which was transmitted last Monday (24th).

It took my attention as soon as I heard it and wasn't surprised to see that Warren Bennett is credited.

It appears that Warren is now doing the music alone - Dad has stepped aside!

Is this a new series? I'm looking forward to another series reaching NZ. Probably my favourite TV programme in recent times.

It seems there will be one more series following the one currently being shown and then Amanda Redman and Alun Armstrong are leaving. No news on if the show will continue after that.

Strangely enough, my mum also asked me on the phone why the music at the end of New Tricks was different this week! She had previously enquired of me as to why Brian Bennett was no longer credited at the end. As far as Brian goes, I suspect that he's moved on to other things and left the show in the more than capable hands of Warren. As far as the different ending theme goes... Again, maybe they just fancied a change?

At least this proves that some people listen to the music AND read the end credits!!!!

(Nice of the BBC not to talk over them and squeeze the picture down so that everything is unreadable!)

Perhaps Dennis Waterman couldn't think up any suitable lyrics to the new tune!

Yep I also the noticed 'new' music - sweeping incidental keyboard motifs and the guitar led last credits theme - more please.

Although it was well done, I always thought that the old theme tune was a cheeky take-off of the Travelling Wibury's song...

The original series I believe did in fact have the Travellin Wilbury's song "End of the LIne" as its theme!
