Many happy returns of the day, Hank, thanks for everything.

It strikes me as a little bizzare that this thread has so few replies. Is it just that being a JW, Hank does not mark his own birthday. Or is there some other reason ?

SWMBO is (nearly) the same age as Hank, and she's insisted for years, now, that once you're sixty you start counting backwards and it's become a bit of a habit round these parts :D . We're busy celebrating eldest Son's birthday today (Down to The 'Oak in a couple of hours for Steaks & Ale!) He's 45 - so given SWMBO's method of calculation, must be not far short of the same age as his Mum!!
Anyroadup, best wishes to Hank, and whether HE celebrates or not, a big THANKYOU for 50 plus years of GREAT music.
Regards
Paul

P.S. Perhaps (Tin Hat "ON") most folks round here are more intererested in Valves, Echos, Amplifiers, and all the other Gizmos, and have forgotten that it's the PERSON that makes the music, eh?

I started counting backwards at 35!

Trouble is, I'm not old enough to drive any more ...

A very Happy Birthday to the man who has been an inspiration to us all. As you point out he probably doesn't celebrate himself but I will certainly raise a glass to my hero. Happy Birthday Hank and lets hope for many more. :D  :D

Captainhaddock and friends: Thank you for saying this. I avoided checking in on the Forum until now (so late in the day) because I felt such an ethical dilemma on this subject. Hank, if you are reading this thread, please know how much we all love and respect you.

One of the things I appreciate most about Hank is his sense of humour (same for Jet, too). Here is a video excerpt from the "After Ten..." show where it is set in the distant future. The first couple of seconds of the video are misleading...it's actually Cliff watching a film of himself singing "Whole Lotta Shakin". Then you'll see at 1:00 -- Cliff and the Shads as "old men" reflecting back on when they were The Young Ones. Somehow Bruce knew he'd still have the best hair. :D

October 28th is Hank Appreciation Day, at my house any way.

Kind regards,
Donna

I didn't respond for the reason mentioned by captainhaddock, and suspect that many others are in the same boat. I think that we should respect Hank's beliefs.

What a wonderful (and apt) video, Donna.

I too didn't reply as i knew Hank didn't celebrate his birthday due to his beliefs.
