I did try a while back to make a bt from a couple of Duane's early "stereo" tracks with a "remover" but didn't have a great deal of success
I'll have another go & see what happens as I have some different programmes I can try now but do seem to remember that Duane's guitar, although in the center as you say was spread quite wide.....however as it can be done with a lot of the Shads recordings it surely should be possible to get similar results with Duane's.
Detour is probably the best place to start as it was one of the first stereo recordings & might not be mixed as "deeply" as the later stuff.
That being said though the basic rhythm tracks are straight forward enough to replicate if you are starting from "scratch", ....it's the sax that is the big problem for the home "d.i.y.er" like me.
Hopefully this may bring some more Duane bt's to light
