Just search for Gibson and then sort the results by price - highest first, lowest last.
The Epiphones will then magically gravitate to the end of the list.
Works well - unless of course you are looking for a CHEAP Gibson?

Good theory David. However, if the seller has entered a low starting price it doesn't work. Plus it doesn't stop Epiphones being advertised as Gibsons which is what brassed me off in the first place.

Although I have had a long and mostly trouble-free relationship with eBay, both buying and selling (and even on the very rare occasions something has gone wrong, it has been sorted very quickly), there is one niggle I have.

It seems perfectly fine for someone to advertise, say. EPIPHONE LES PAUL, GIBSON, FENDER, etc, when selling just an Epiphone but if you say, as I did once, LES PAUL-STYLE, eBay will delete your auction. So, if you sprinkle your auction subject with various makes in order to get more viewers from searches, that's fine, but if you're honest, and describe a guitar precisely and fairly, you are penalised. The reason they gave for deleting mine was that it isn't allowed to use a trade-name to describe or to compare to, something not of that make!

A search in exactly these terms:

+Gibson -Epiphone

will returm only guitars advertised as Gibsons. Any auction which containing the word "epiphone", whether in the title or description, will not feature in your results.

Don't forget the plus amd minus signs.

that is a good idea that i use but!! if an auction says in the details this is a gibson not a Epiphone or mentions Epiphone at all you wont get that auction. i have tried loads diffent ways to get round alans problam but none so far have been fool proof (no offence alan ) peter
