Echomatic Mk II

Postby rogera » 10 May 2013, 13:53

I wasn't sure which category to post this thread in but for anyone that may be interested, here are some photos of a tape echo that I've just finished building.

As you can see I've not copied any of the many echo units that have appeared from different manufacturers over the years, but incorporated just the features from each that appealed to me. The electronics are based upon the Meazzi Echomatic although in certain areas I've used ideas found in other units including the older drum units.

Tape head selection and related features presented one of the biggest challenges but I've resisted the temptation to over complicate it.

Hi Keith - the heads are not equally spaced. I've arranged them to give the usual Shadows patterns plus an option for variations.

Glad that you like it Ecca - I've got you to thank for the idea of using a strip of leds to provide downlighting in the lid.

That part of it worked out very well and they take up virtually no space.
