Hope the Beeb do a "fair" job in representing The Shadows and its not another "there was nothing before The Beatles" jobby.

They could have done much better, Move It and F.B.I. were about it with interviews from a few well known faces. There is much more in the archives that would have given a much better reflection of the period in question.

Absolutely agreed.

The quest seems to have been to prove that British music was never more than an inferior, if worthy, copy of American music.

Until the Beatles came along, that is, when everything UK became cool.

Sarcastic? Moi? I've been a Beatles fan since 1962...

All I can say is that the BBC made an effort which I felt was rather poor. There is a 2 hour programme already made featuring British 50’s music and personnel including missing footage which would blow this effort away but sadly the BBC and other TV companies will not commission it, what can I say “ OH BOY ”.

Apart from the usual "regulars" on a programme like this, it was good to see Clem Cattini and Mo Foster getting their mugs in. :)
I thought Vince Eager very brave to show us the "then" and "now" in such depth. I enjoyed his cynically comic "biography" song he sang with his band.
cheers

So we get as far as 1960 then nothing happens till the Beatles arrive!!!!
Some of the BBC so called researchers need to wake up and stop sniffing Expresso
Coffee or Starbucks.
Get down to the real greasy spoon cafe and talk to the real old rockers about Shane
Fenton, Lord Sutch et al

Well I suppose it was better than nothing & Cliff did get to say what we all know about the media in general not fully acknowledging him & The Shadows rightful place in history.

It wasn't bad but could have been a lot better with a bit more effort. Come on BBC More Shads less Bill Haley.
