An interesting departure from the usual order of things...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Collection- ... l_1#disc_1...Mind you, they really should have put a Burns Marvin or the black Strat on the cover!!! Nice pic though!

A thirty-four track Shadows "punters" collection with nothing from before early 1967?
That is unusual.

Looks like a 'Moonlight Shadows' type selection of covers for the most part, which makes the inclusion of the vocals somewhat odd.

According to Amazon the release date has now been put back to August 26th, no sign of it on Leo's Den as yet.

Was perusing the 'easy listening' shelf of the Nottingham HMV yesterday, just before closing time, and the aforementioned album leapt out at me! They had four copies, they now have three. Listened to CD1 last night and, of course, enjoyed it. I never tire of hearing these tunes/songs and without using the shuffle function on my CD player this is as good a way as any to hear them in a different order to what I'm used to!
Interesting that the recordings are now all owned by Parlophone as oposed to EMI or Columbia. The result of cost-cutting at the parent company I imagine?
Also very sad to see that The Shadows (along with Cliff) are now considered 'easy listening' whereas Elvis is still 'pop and rock'. I find it mildly insulting for the band that inspired, amongst MANY others, Tony Iommi, George Harrison, Brian May and Neil Young. I wonder of a letter-writing or emailing campaign would succeed in getting at least the Shads returned to their rightful place...???
